SUNSET YOGA 2012

The word is getting out so we're hoping for an even better season next year. Spread the word. All that's asked is that participants enjoy, carry the peacefulness home and "be as generous with donations as your life allows."

Sunset Yoga was offered as a series of Seva classes to support and raise money for the YogaKids Bridge of Diamonds Foundation this summer in Long Beach Indiana by Cinda Rierson.

The Bridge works to educate, empower, and transform children and disadvantaged communities through yoga. We have been teaching children in the tent cities as well as training youth workers to use yoga in their work with kids. This spring, we began our program to hire local teachers to work consistently every week with the kids rather than just once a month when our volunteers travel to Haiti. To read more about our work visit http://gogiveyoga.com/projects This summer we will begin our work in the Appalachian Mts. in Lee County, KY.

Marsha Wenig and Cinda have led this wonderful series of sunset yoga sessions though the warm summer months. Dozens of people have participated and help to raise funds for the Bridge’s mission in Haiti. It was an exciting and inspiring program to have so many people come out to support the work. People walked from the neighborhood, rode their bikes, car pooled and came from the surrounding area to enjoy the beautiful sunsets looking out over Lake Michigan with the Chicago skyline in the background.

Each class began with a brief introduction to the Bridge of Diamonds, describing the programs and hope shared with the children in Haiti. A gentle yoga session in the soft sand and sometimes in the water was followed by meditation gazing out over the western skies as the sun slowly sank behind the horizon.
